• Rug and upholstery cleaners allow you to clean carpets and upholstery quickly and easily on the spot.

  • By coating the fibres, rug and upholstery cleaners help protect your carpets and soft furnishings from getting dirty again quickly.

  • Some rug and upholstery shampoos are specially for removable items, allowing you to hand or machine wash them in a way that gently lifts the dirt out.

  • Rug and upholstery shampoo formulations are non-foaming cleaners generally for 3-in-1 machines that gently lift dirt and stains out of carpets and upholstery.

  • Rug and upholstery shampoos contain special polymers that remove stains and ensure that no sticky residue remains after drying.

  • The cleaner's polymers also keep the carpets cleaner for longer and help prevent carpet pile from flattening. In general, they are suitable for use on wool carpets.

Sustainable use

  • Before you use any cleaning product on your rug or upholstery, test it first on an inconspicuous area.

  • Use carpet foam cleaners, aerosols and shampoos for spot cleaning. They loosen the dirt from the carpet fibres or pile and coat them, so you can vacuum the dirt up once it’s dried.

  • For larger surface areas and heavier soiling, use a carpet cleaning machine and choose the carpet shampoo that is recommended for that particular machine.

  • To minimise the need for carpet and upholstery cleaning, vacuum regularly to reduce the chances of dirt getting ground into the fabric or carpet pile and being harder to remove.

  • If there is a sleeve on the detergent bottle, remove it when empty and recycle it separately.
